The Removal

My mother developed dementia and slowly her mind failed, though she was able to cope with some help in her sheltered house, but it was a fragile situation. Then one night she fell and broke her hip, lying overnight on the floor until emergency services arrived and removed her to hospital. Assessment revealed she was unable to continue living independently and would require to enter a care home in our local town. The process of closing her flat fell to me, and on the day of her furniture removal the experience was not what I had expected...
